New Hampshire Chicken Breed Information:

Developed in 1915 from a strain of Rhode Island Red brought into New Hampshire state.  Recognized as a distinct breed in 1935.

New Hampshire chickens originated from the "Newcomer" strain which was an egg laying strain and has been improved upon yearly on our own chicken breeding farm. If you wish for a chicken that is calm, matures early, lays good, and is of heavy weight, then Hampshire is what you're looking for.
